Program Objectives
The Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Management prepares the student to meet
the standards of Massachusetts Educator Licensure as either a Supervisor/Director (P-12) or School
Principal (P-6, 5-8,9-12). The program offers courses and experiences that equip school administrators
with the skills and competencies necessary to become affective educational leaders.
Guidelines for Program
- Master's must be completed within six years
- Up to six credits may be transferred if the courses meet the particular
course content
- Candidates must take eleven courses and a six-credit Practicum/Internship
- Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in the degree
program
- Student must pass the Departmental Comprehensive Exam
Program Costs
There may be a charge for books and materials, which should not exceed $100. Tuition costs may
change over the length of the program.

Application Requirements
Those seeking matriculation into the degree program must forward the following documentation

- A completed application for admission
- Official transcript of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or
University with a 2.8 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Three letters of recommendation from individuals under whom the applicant
has studied and/or under whose immediate supervision he/she has worked in a professional
capacity; and/or from others who are in position to offer pertinent appraisal
- An official report of the Miller Analogies Test Score, or the Graduate
Record Examination (GRE). Test scores over five years old will not be accepted
- Copy of teaching license
- $25 matriculation fee
- Professional Resume
- Applicants to graduate initial licensure teacher preparation programs
must successfully complete the literacy and communication subtests of the Massachusetts
Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL) and submit passing scores as part of their application
- All official transcripts for graduate level course work to be considered as
transfer

Program Objectives
The purpose of this 39-credit program is to enable the professional educator who has earned
his/her master’s degree to pursue advanced graduate study in educational leadership and management,
and prepares the student to meet the standards of Massachusetts Licensure as a Supervisor/Director
(P-12) or School Principal (P-6, 5-9, 9-12).
This CAGS program is designed for students with a desire to:
- Develop competencies in managerial skills related to political arenas,
personnel, fiscal affairs, acquisition of material resources, diverse public pupil populations,
and organized change.
- Strengthen, deepen, and expand the knowledge base in the field of leadership
and management in order to anticipate and solve problems inherent in the educational system.
- Demonstrate through coursework field based experiences the knowledge, skills
and attitudes that are required to lead and manage an educational enterprise effectively and
efficiently.
Students who do not desire certification may, with the approval of their advisor, develop a
program, which meets their professional and personal goals.
