This school year the Merrimack Education Center will restore a very successful program from our past — the opportunity for area middle school and high school principals to meet monthly on a variety of topics important to school leadership. Although the choice of seminar topics will be determined by the group, preliminary topics include the following:
- Standards-based classroom: the principal’s role
- Remaining current in the curriculum
- Effective hiring practices
- MCAS — academic achievement strategies
- Scheduling
- Motivating teachers
- Motivating students
- Special Education: balancing need and school capacity
