"Cracker Barrels" for Assistant Principals

The Merrimack Education Center will offer our “Cracker Barrel” Sessions for the 2007-08 school year.

In this support program for assistant principals, we will cover various topics:

  • Standards-based classroom: assistant principal’s role
  • School Law: the basics
  • Discipline/Behavior Management: approaches that work
  • Motivating teachers: strategies
  • Motivating students: strategies
  • Special Education: balancing need and school capacity
  • The 504: what is allowed?
  • Professional Development: the assistant principal’s role
  • Growing as an assistant principal
  • Understanding the school psychologist’s SPED report: assessment, analysis, determination of need
  • Assistant principal’s role in support services for students (academic and behavioral) and staff
  • Sharing of documents
The assistant principals will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with their colleagues and hear from practicing school administrators on these topics.

Participants:    10-15
Location:    40 Linnell Circle, Billerica
1st date: Friday, September 28, 2007
Other dates to be determined at first session.
Time:    8:30am to 10:30am– Secondary Assistant Principals
1:00pm to 3:00pm - Elementary Assistant Principals
Middle School Assistant Principals may register for either session.
Please indicate which session you will be attending when you register.
Cost:    $600.00 for year
Continental Breakfast will be served for morning sessions.
Coffee and cookies will be served for afternoon sessions.

PDPs will be awarded.
