comprehensive data analysis through the series of books "Using Data to
Improve Student Learning." There are four books in this series, each
targeted to a specific organizational level:
Available Now...
- Using Data to Improve Student Learning in Elementary Schools (2003)
- Using Data to Improve Student Learning in Middle Schools (2004)
- Using Data to Improve Student Learning in High Schools (2005)
- Using Data to Improve Student Learning in School Districts (2006)
Since the publication of Data Analysis for Comprehensive School wide
Improvement and Designing and Using Databases for School Improvement
educators have consistently asked for a sequel. They want more examples
at every level of how to analyze and interpret data to improve student
achievement results.
These books show real analyses performed at the district and
school levels, using measures that are used at some grade levels, as
well as consistent measures at every grade level over time. The
splitting up of the books by organizational level allows for a thorough
investigation of the analyses and program improvement implications.

Professional Development pointsMass. D.O.E. has ruled that PDP providers (NCSD) may award certificates of attendance but may not award PDPs for attendance at professional conferences. In order for an event to qualify for PDP’s it would have to involve a minimum of 10 hours of instruction and there would have to be a project/product at the end. Districts may use the certificates of attendance to combine with other hours and follow-up activities at the district level to award PDPs.
