Merrimack Education Center

The Merrimack Education Center (MEC) is a diversified educational and technological resource for schools, cities and towns and other non-profit organizations. MEC offers a broad range of special education, professional development, facilities management and technology programs and solutions. MEC offers school districts, non-profit organizations and others the opportunity to take advantage of state-of-the-art, high quality educational and technical programs and services efficiently and at reasonable cost.

MEC offers programs and services in four areas:

Special Education Programs and Adult Services
The Merrimack Special Education Collaborative (MSEC) is the largest service organization within the Merrimack Education Center, and fulfills the Massachusetts Department of Education's goal to create regional education collaboratives (under Chapter 766). It provides quality educational and vocational opportunities for students and adults with physical, emotional and developmental challenges ranging in age from three through retirement. Services are provided in any one of the MSEC's three locations in Chelmsford as well as in many schools in member districts.
Professional Development
MEC offers a wide range of professional development opportunities to help enhance professional capabilities and opportunities in diverse areas of study and licensure. Programs help educators gain new knowledge and expertise in addition to advanced degrees and licensure.
School Facilities Planning
The Merrimack Education Center offers feasibility and demographic planning studies used to assist in planning the development, construction and renovation of school facilities. Comprehensive school building assistance audit software and services offer school districts, and cities and towns an innovative software tool for audit documentation for reimbursement.
Technology and Internet Solutions
MECnet, a division of the Merrimack Education Center, is a full service technology and Internet solutions provider. MECnet provides a wide range of technology products and services to schools, cities and towns, and other non-profit organizations. MECnet possesses the knowledge and experience to effectively build and maintain technology and Internet solutions for schools, libraries, municipal and government agencies, and other non-profit organizations.
